Well here we are mid January, however as I’ve only recently materialized from holiday mode it still feels like the year has just begun. Time to wrangle up the new me, remove the glass of pinot from her hand, and do some ‘things’. I’m not great at resolutions per se; I’m too indecisive to narrow my self-improvement goals down to a tidy little list. I do however think the new-year is a great excuse for some self-reflection, defining what I currently want most out of my future, and sketching up a subsequent plan of attack. For me 2016 is going to be about execution. I realise this is rather amusing as I’m only just getting around my reso’s now. Nevertheless I feel as though more than ever I know I want out of my future, and it’s now a case of making it happen – getting my ‘ideas’ off the ‘to do’ list and into action. So, in the coming weeks I’ll be introducing some new stuff, including a YouTube Channel, stay tuned!
As you can see I’m back in Sydney now, missing home, but simultaneously happy to be back in my other home. I will say I was genuinely sorry to say goodbye to winter. We enjoyed the best of it these last few weeks and it’s gotten me all nostalgic. That being said it was really nice to hop the ocean yesterday, and today (before it reached 40 degrees) I was happily bustling about in this silk shirt dress, feeling rather light on my feet.
So what makes this dress a capsule piece? I’ve owned it for nearly six years, and still wear it on a regular basis for three reasons; 1. The style itself can’t really be pinned to a specific time or place, so it doesn’t date 2. The design is simple and classic, so I never tire of it and, 3. the fit is flattering, so I always feel good in it. For me, these are the main considerations when looking for long-lasting pieces. So if your resolutions fall along the lines of “spend less money” or “purchase more responsibly” it’d be my advice to keep these in mind and you’ll soon find yourself wearing more of your wardrobe and feeling less like you need something new.

Is there anyway to buy this beautiful dress is Australia?
I struggled with putting exact resolutions down this year, I know where I want to get to, there are just so many points to make!
I love that you decided to share a dress you have been wearing for years, it is a true test that you love it and feel confident in your style. I’d be missing the snow too!
