As someone who enjoys a trend, finding a way to make it work for myself is a must. Trends are never ending, and always changing, as such I find them exciting and a welcomed source of fresh inspiration. However, instead of allowing them dictate how I dress, I simply look for ways to make them fit my personal style. This is of course easier with some trends than others i.e. the monochrome movement fit me like a glove, I could embrace it wholeheartedly without ever straying from my core style. On the other hand, there are some trends that I must admire more from afar, picking and choosing elements that work for me, so I may participate, but still within my own framework. Currently we find ourselves in the midst of a retro resurge, which I am thoroughly enjoying – the flares, the suede, the burnt orange, the lot. That being said, not all of it works for me. So, here we have an outfit that exemplifies how I’m embracing the retro vibes, sticking to my usual colour pallet and structured pieces, but playing with details like the buttoned skirt and frilled trims. Don’t even get me started on these patent, navy leather boots… seriously, I’m dying.

I love that shirt! It puts a twist to being just a plain white button down!

Look at those tanned pins girl! Summer sure does suit you! And so does this retro trend. I mean, that top is amazing. You always seem to find classic pieces that have a stylish spin on them, like that fabulous collar. The skirt and the boots, yep, they’re just as fabulous as you say they are!
PS. I still need to find the perfect pair of flares.
