Two days in O’ahu, beach hoping, exploring the mountains, and eating as many fish tacos as humanly possible – the perfect way to ease out of Canadian winter and back into the Aussie heat. Having never been to Hawaii before we had no real expectations, which I think makes for the best experiences, and as our stay was short and sweet we opted to simply explore!

My O’ahu Travel Tips (based on 48 hours, a pathetic exchange rate, and a healthy appetite)

  1. Get out of Waikiki.
  2. Eat an Acai Bowl from Heavenly before you do.
  3. Drive to Waimea Bay.
  4. Don’t trust Google Maps.
  5. Have lunch at the Food Trucks in Sharks Cove and eat at the one that say’s ‘Best Fish Tacos in Hawaii’. Get the Mango Salsa. Go back for more.
  6. Drive another 5 minutes and stop at Banzai Pipeline to see the waves. They’re amazing.
  7. Take the rest of the day and continue driving the perimeter of O’ahu.
  8. Stop whenever you can to take it all in.
  9. Don’t eat the pineapple that’s been in your car all day.
  10. Do enjoy the $5 happy hour Mai Tai’s when you’re safely back at your resort.
  11. Have dinner at Surf & Turf Tacos.
